The club will be running a Foundation Safety and Rescue Course on Sunday the 20th of August 9am – 5pm. This course is ideal for anyone who wishes to consolidate their rescue skills, learn essential rescue techniques and work towards becoming an independent paddler. The course will be held at Holme Pierrepont.
The course covers equipment, paddling safely, different rescue techniques for different situations and supporting paddlers who have become incapacitated or injured.
Those coming on the course should be at roughly 2 star standard and able to paddle both a canoe and kayak.
The course is a pre-requisite for the Level 1 Coach Award and anyone wanting to do a Level 1 coaching course in the future would be advised to do this course now (in the warm weather!).
Cost is £31, which includes the British Canoeing certification. Bookings must be made through the Booking Portal. Bookings will be accepted from the 29th of July. The course is open to both HPPCC members and non-members.
If you have any questions about your suitability for the course please contact the course organiser Andy Brown for more information. Certification can only be issued to those over the age of 14, but under 14’s may attend the course.
