Christmas and the New-Year

Dear Paddler

Well as the year draws to an end we can look back on some fantastic paddling, opportunities and friendships.

But – even more is being planned for the new year starting with the New Year paddle on the 30th December, Loughborough Loop meeting at 9.00am at the Boat House, Barrow. 16km with 3 portages, start and finish at The Boat House. Ending around 3pm, please email Kirst if you are attending, and please let him know if you want to eat at the pub afterwards, they are offering food for us specially when we finish.  We really want to beat last years turnout of 33 club paddlers.

16th December – Barrow Downriver race – The Boat House Loughborough. We would really like to get a good HPPCC turnout. This is a timed event, not a race against lots of people. It’s great fun on a nice stretch of river of about 1.5 – 2 miles. Nothing strenuous. A poster is attached for all of the Barrow race series and this event on Saturday is being filmed by British Canoeing and will feature on their website, so you could be a star.

Also first two trips for the New Year 7th January Trent Lock to HPP – Contact Kirst for more details
4th February Alrewas to Burton – Contact Kirst for more details.

Also,
Late April – Lake District – being moved to late April as campsites likely still closed in March So likely to be moved to weekend of 22nd April. Bassenthwaite and Derwent Lakes with the connecting River Derwent trip. This is an exeptional weekend of paddling in one of the most beautifull parts of the Lake District. Expressions of serious interest to Kirst.
Lake District in first week of June – Lake Winderemere and Ullswater weekend. Expressions of serious interest to Kirst.

My thanks to Kirst for organising these trips and giving our members the opportunity to expand their horizons and paddle with great friends.

As a reminder there are no club sessions on the 23rd and 30th of December or the 6th of January.

Regards
Dawn
