A very happy new-year to all of our members and we look forward to seeing you at many of our events this year.
We have 15 members already signed up for our New-year paddle at Rudyard Lake this Saturday (4th Jan) and if you want to come, you need to sign up by 10am tomorrow, to ensure that we can collect kit for you, and arrange for the right amount of parking at Rudyard. Please go to the Club booking portal and enter your details.
The open access pool sessions start on the 11th of January. They are at the Ken Martin Leisure Centre in Bulwell (Hucknall Ln, Nottingham NG6 8AP) and you need to be there at about 3.30pm and then the sessions in the pool are from 3.45 until 5pm.
Cost is £6 per person, and boats are provided. You can’t bring your own boat to the session due to the risk of contamination but you can bring your own paddle if you want to, provided it is clean.
Please bring a t shirt to wear in the pool or a rash vest and it is more comfortable if you have neoprene shorts, or swimming shorts, just to stop the boats rubbing as you try and roll. If you want, please bring goggles and nose clip to make it more comfortable.
We have a maximum of 50 people in the pool, which includes coaches, so it is on a first come first served basis, although we don’t usually need to turn people away.
These sessions are shared with Notts Kayak Club and we welcome competent rollers from either club, who want to learn to teach rolling or lend a hand with the sessions.
If you would like to help at the sessions please make yourself known to Trevor, or David Phillips at the start of the session.
Further club trips and coaching courses will be posted onto the club website very shortly.
Again a very happy new year to you all.
