Touring trips coming up and being arrranged

Hi all,

Just an update of forthcoming trips and tours I'm organising for HPPCC. I will update the HPPCC touring Facebook page and will have information put in the e-mail newsletters from the club. Please e-mail me your interest in these.

April 23rd  River Trent Newark U/S or we could do the Newark Loop. I'm easy either way!!

May 7 – River Wreake – this is currently full I'm afraid. I've had to put a maximum number on this. I will take reserves in case anyone pulls out, but no guarentees.

May 21st – River Tame Tamworth to National Memorial Arboretum. I'm calling the arboretum this next week to arrange parking and get out point there which they apparently are OK with if we are considerate of the nature of the site and what it represents. Should be a good trip, around 15km

June 2-4 Lake District (Windermere and Bassenthwait Lake). Weekend of paddling in some stunning scenery. Good crowd going already.

End of June – River Tay 2 day tour – I need definite numbers on this if it is to go ahead – I've had interest but need definats now. There was enough interest to run this tour and it's worth doing. Camping overnight along the river in stunning Scottish Scenery. Please let me know asap as they won't hold this forever.

End of July, River Nene, Wellingborough or Peterborough area. I'm working the route out now. Really nice river to paddle.

Early August – River Soar – Normanton to Trent Lock, 15km. Popular route with weirs that can be either shot or portaged – you decide.

September – River Welland (D/S of Stamford area) and River Severn (route yet to be decided).

October – River Witham – Lincoln D/S and River Derwent – Borrowash to Trent Lock. Both about 14km give or take.

November – River Trent Hazelford to Newark. Really nice paddle with a couple of nice points for dinner with pubs.

November- River Soar – Syston to Barrow upon Soar. 12km. Nice paddle.

There will also be evening trips. I'm likely to be paddling tomorrow evening depending on weather. We have some evening plans for trips from Gunthorpe and also on the Erewash Canal, River Trent. These are shorter, 2 hour evening trips. We've had two great paddles this last month too with good turnout and sun shining.  I'm starting a Sea Kayaking group as well in the club and if anyone who hasn't let me know is interested, let me know.

Keep you eyes on the club website, facebook page for touring (HPPCC touring and recreation et al) for more trips and further details of the above. Remember Dawn is organising the River Wye trip – our annual pilgrimage to this amazing river again in stunning scenery.

Happy paddling and see you all hopefully at club paddles on Saturdays and soon Thursdays again,
