Club update

Dear Paddler

Welcome to another update from the club.
Don’t forget that this weekend is Paddle in the Park, so the centre will be very busy with paddlers coming to the WW course, where the sessions on the WW course are free.
The Club session will still need to be paid for in the normal way.
The club AGM will be taking place on Thursday the 29th of June and this year we are delighted that we are holding the AGM at the home of British Canoeing, our National Governing Body.  So this is a great opportunity to come and see the National Governing Body in action.

June 29th Time 8.30 – light refreshments from 8pm.  Please be on time as access is through a buzzer entry system.
This year at the AGM we have a number of people standing down and we have new roles that need filling.  Any nominations for election to the committee should be sent to myself no later than 14 days before the AGM.
Chair – Dawn Scott – Willing to stand for re-election
Treasurer – Kirst Elton – Willing to stand for re-election
Membership Secretary and Charity Commission liaison – Guy Wilson – willing to stand for re-election
Volunteer and Coaching officer – Ian Scott – willing to stand for re-election
Recreation – Trevor Tarlton-Weatherall – Willing to stand for re-election
Slalom – Mark Haylett – willing to stand for re-election
Standing down
Freestyle – James Ibbotson
Youth – Caroline Fielding
Secretary – Ruth McColl
Development – Steve Evans
Nominations have been received from Andrew Brown for Freestyle, and Christina Noakes for Youth who are willing to stand for election.
The Committee would like to thank all of those who have served on the committee for supporting the club, and welcomes nominations for any posts on the committee.  If more than one nomination is received then a secret ballot will be taken to elect a representative.
The Development role is one that the committee would like to examine and feels that the work that Steve has done in getting the club to this position has been invaluable, but that now the post may better be served by someone who would be able to take on a role in supporting the club communications, looking at Facebook, the club website, newsletters, interviews with paddlers and club publicity.
In addition we will need to find a new secretary, this person will responsible for arranging agendas for meetings, taking minutes of meetings and responding to queries that come into the club by phone and email.
You don’t need to be a paddler to be on the committee, parents, partners and anyone with a love for the club are welcome to stand.
If you have any questions about what a role on the committee entails then please do contact me and I can let you know what is involved.
We look forward to seeing you at this important meeting and for your chance to see around British Canoeing.
Wye Weekend
Spaces are still available for the Wye weekend, but the last date for people to book their attendance on the weekend is Monday the 26th of June, as we have to let the campsite know how many pitches we need.
Please send us an email with the number of people in your party and your car registration number.
We look forward to seeing you all out on the river.

Club Chairman
