URGENT club update

Dear Paddler

This evening at 4pm we were informed that the whole centre tomorrow would be in use for the National Watersports Open Day.

This means that the lagoon will be in use for activities and it will not be possible for us to run club sessions on the lake or course.  Members are of course welcome to attend the open day to see what is on offer, but you should be aware that parking will be at a premium.

As a result of this very short notice we have taken the decision to cancel the club session as there will be no club access to the lake.

Our apologies for the lack of notice but we we only informed this afternoon.

Please remember that there will be no session the following week as that is a bank holiday weekend.

On other matters the three star assessment and FSRT are now available to book from the website, so please do go on and complete your booking for these events.  Remember the FSRT is about providing you with rescue training to make you a safer and independent paddler.  It supports you to stay safe and to be able to rescue others and be a full member of a group out on a days paddle.

Similarly if you need a first aid course, or a renewal then there is a course running on the 12/13th of May at the Outdoor Pursuits centre in Leicester.  Both days can be attended as a 16 hour course, or paddlers can choose just to attend on the 12th for an 8 hour course.  Cost for the one day is £50 and for both days is £80.  Club coaches needing to renew their qualification can receive full funding from the club for this course.  To book for this course please send an email to [email protected]

If you are interested in becoming a coach then please do speak to Ian Scott and he will let you know how to access courses and bursaries to support your development.  [email protected]

Remember that if you want to progress your paddling or coaching then Ian is running a session on the 12th of May at the Gamston Lock after the paddling session.  Come along and have a chat to see what courses might suit you or work out how to progress your paddling.

Sorry about the late notice of this change.
