I am writing to let you know that we are starting the process of updating our membership database to correspond with British Canoeing’s database.
When you joined the club or renewed your membership you would have given permission for this to happen, and the club agreed this at the AGM 2 years ago. A pandemic and IT issues delayed the roll out! The only data that is being transferred to British Canoeing is your title, name and email address. Parents who have children in the club and have used the same email address for a number of club members may receive several emails from British Canoeing.
What does this mean for you?
If you are already a member of British Canoeing, and you have selected within your membership portal that you are a member of HPPCC, then you will see no difference at all.
If you are a member of British Canoeing but you haven’t selected HPPCC as one of the clubs that you are a member of then you will now see the club shown in your profile like this:
If you are not a member of British Canoeing then you will now receive an Affiliate Club member account with British Canoeing, and you will see the club member sign as above. This means that you have access to a range of British Canoeing resources online, by logging into your portal. Just follow the details and click on join/sign in on the BC website as below.
Please note: You will not be charged anything for this, your BC Affiliate club membership is covered by the extra £5 that you pay to the club for membership. You may start to receive emails from British Canoeing but you can unsubscribe to these if you wish from within the email.
If you want to take out full membership of British Canoeing you can do this at any point from within your new account.
The club will through this new system be able to access updated information about members to help with the management of the club, and individual members will receive more information from the National Governing Body which you are a part of.
Please note that Affiliate Club members do not receive a waterways licence or insurance when undertaking paddling activities outside of the club sessions. You need to be a full on the water member for these benefits.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I have also attached a copy of the club coaching courses that we are running this spring, if you are interested in becoming an instructor or leader then please take a look at these.
Andy Brown has also very kindly offered to run an Online safeguarding course for anyone who is a coach, leader or instructor, or thinking of becoming one. Since September 2020 it is mandatory for all coaches to have some form of safeguarding training in place that has been completed within the last 3 years. This course is on the 25th of February and represents great value for money and saves you having to travel miles to access a course.
All bookings as normal are through the club website.
If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards Dawn Scott Chair of Trustees.
